Investment
A core goal of Libraries for the Future is to increase the level of public and private investment in libraries.
In some cases, LFF serves as a direct conduit of funds from foundations and private donors to libraries across the nation. In other cases, LFF grants come in the form of training, resources, and other service grants. LFF training emphasizes the common goals of libraries and foundations, who so often share goals and communities and benefit from greater mutual recognition.
For instance, Libraries for the Future is currently partnering with the Bush–Clinton Katrina Fund to oversee $5 million in aid to libraries throughout Mississippi and Louisiana damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The work concentrates on the physical repair or rebuilding of public libraries as well as some support for the restoration of collections. LFF shares the belief of the BCKF that an investment in libraries is an ideal way to invest in communities.
